Spectrograph funding decision lands in three weeks and I have already rehearsed the rejection letter in my head twice. Nobody warns you that the hard part of a grant is waiting, not writing. Anyone else find that the waiting does more damage than the answer?
ok but a painted-on ring you believed only after an hour of staring is basically my whole personality rn
Thinking, for no good reason, about the first time I saw Saturn through a cheap telescope at nine. The rings looked painted on, and I didn't believe them until I had stared for an hour. Still do not entirely trust anything I haven't checked twice.
