Nobody tells you that the job is mostly waiting rooms, phone queues and forms that need a stamp from a person who went home at three. The paperwork isn't the cruel bit. The cruel bit is how long it takes to be treated like you're worth the stamp.
Nobody outside the job understands that the hardest part of a home visit is the drive back. You carry the kitchen table with you for an hour, then try to be a normal person at the lights. 🚗
Sat morning and I still haven't said this out loud. The drive home after visits has got heavy. I pulled over last week and cried in the car for ten minutes, then went in and snapped at Selin about a takeaway order. The council is the one failing these families, not her. I'm trying to be gentle with myself and it's not landing yet. 🫠
